Work Schedule: Monday – Friday 8-5 (Required to work on call rotation)

Position Purpose: The Outside Service Plant Technician Supervisor is responsible for performing system maintenance, construction, customer service, installation and testing as directed.

Core Functions Statement(s)

  • Assist with maintaining all aspects of the head-end, network, hub, NOC, and other system operations.
  • Perform and assist with the installation of fiber and coax to subscriber premises.
  • Perform and assist with customer service calls
  • Perform necessary wiring for system components
  • Assist with collection of monies or equipment.
  • Assist with ONT provisioning and DCT staging as needed.
  • Assist with inventory management.
  • Ensure vehicles are well stocked with tools, material, and inventory.
  • Troubleshoot and repair network fiber and coax plant.
  • Perform documentation and certification of customer services and equipment.
  • Assist technician and installers to assure all job functions are completed professionally and in a timely manner in accordance with customer expectations and company policy.
  • Maintain all records and reports for strict adherence to and proper documentation of network performance.
  • Work with Tel-com Plant Mgr. on continual educational development for staff.
  • Oversee, inspect and provide quality checks on Communication contracted projects, installations, safety and service to assure compliance with MUS standards.
  • Prepare all required reports and documentation required to fulfill responsibilities of position.
  • Adhere and comply with all scheduling for standby support to NOC and helpdesk as needed.

Additional responsibilities

  • Allocates and supervises the daily work
  • Maintain flow of field work for all other OSP Technicians
  • Updates records in Telecom database
  • As part of a service oriented organization, perform any and all duties requested, whether scheduled or on an emergency basis.
  • Observes and follows all safety rules, procedures, standards and specification codes in all job aspects.
  • Ability to maintain reliable, predictable, and reasonable attendance.
  • Must maintain a valid drivers’ license from state of residence.

Qualifications: Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

  • Associate degree in Computer Science, Fiber Optics, Networking, Broadband or related field or equivalent number of years of experience.
  • Intermediate computer skills that contains a broad knowledge; knows and applies the full range of concepts, practices of the field.
  • Communicate frequently in a professional manner with internal and external persons
  • Competencies include analytical, computer, communication, and coordinating skills.
  • Maintain primary residence in the city limits of Morristown or immediate vicinity of Hamblen County

Preferred Qualifications

  • 3-5 years’ prior work experience

Other requirements:

  • May be required to attend up to but not limited to 20 hours annually of certification training.
  • Seek to stay abreast new technology to ensure best practices for operations.
  • Basic Leadership skills
